Stephen Smith is a professor at All Souls’ College, University of Oxford. He previously taught at the EUI and the University of Essex. He is a world-renowned scholar of the Russian Revolution and its international impact, author of several books on the Russian and Chinese revolutions, including his masterful comparative analysis of the Chinese and Russian revolutions, Revolution and the People in Russia and China, and his study on the industrial working class in Petrograd during the Russian Revolution, Red Petrograd. He is currently working on a monograph on the Russian Revolution for Oxford University Press.

2012r-192w-robertgerwarth-192x130Robert Gerwarth teaches at University College Dublin and is the director of the interdisciplinary Centre for War Studies, which runs several groundbreaking projects on war, crisis, violence, revolution, and counterrevolution. He has authored and edited numerous widely-acclaimed books and articles on the post-war crisis in Europe and the turbulences of the interwar period, focusing in particular on transnational violence and paramilitarism. He has edited the celebrated volume War in Peace: Paramilitary Violence in Europe after the Great War.
